Hurricane Dorian: Your urgent help needed

As devastating Hurricane Dorian continues on a path to impact the southeastern states, we have been working around the clock to prepare for an intake of dogs from affected areas. Our effort is being done in partnership with Best Friends Animal Society, who is coordinating a massive rescue operation to move animals to safety ahead of the storm.

This morning a team from Pets Alive is leaving for the Brandywine Valley SPCA in Delaware to transport dogs back to our shelter. Brandywine Valley SPCA is a staging area for dogs coming from animal shelters that are being evacuated at risk of flooding or shelters that have to make room for animals displaced from the storm.

We are now asking for your help in anticipation of the arrival of these precious dogs late Wednesday, barring traffic and any other unforeseen complications. We anticipate some level of “vetting” will be required including vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchips and any medical attention needed.

You have helped the animals so many times in the past. Our medical fund is already stretched and is dwindling as a result of a summer full of animal rescues.

Can we rely on you once again – our partner in rescue – to help these dogs so we can get them the care they need and ultimately find them all loving homes?

You can also mail us a check made out to Pets Alive, 363 Derby Road, Middletown, NY 10940.

Donate supplies including:
– Dry dog food (Pedigree is preferred)
– Canned dog food (Pedigree is prefered)
– Bleach
– Contractor garbage bags
– 3-lb paper trays

Supplies can be dropped off at Pets Alive, 363 Derby Road, Middletown NY daily between 10:00am-4:00pm. You also can order directly from our Amazon wishlist and have the item(s) mailed to us at Pets Alive, 363 Derby Road, Middletown, NY 10940.

We thank you for your generous support. We could not do this live-saving work without you. And for those of you who are affected by Dorian, we hope you and your loved ones are safe.

Sincerely,

Executive Director
