Three thoroughbreds whose racing careers were ended due to injuries needed homes immediately or they would be sold for slaughter in PA. The older two were placed quickly but Devil was not rideable, needed three months of stall rest and constant attention and might never be able to be 'used' again. We didn't want or need another horse to care for but he looked so pathetic and seemed to know what was in store - riding to his death with other sick or injured horses on a double-decker trailer to the slaughterhouse either in Canada or Texas. Now Devil lives his days here at Pets Alive, grazing and occasionally picking up his jolly ball to play with his paddock mate Buzz. Devil does have some arthritis issues, which he gets bi-monthly IV injections of a product called Legend, which is equivalent to Cortisone for humans. It makes him feel more comfortable and makes it easier for him to move around. Devil is not rideable but makes an excellent pasture mate for another high-energy horse who likes to kick it up every once in awhile. He is approximately eight years old and 16H.Please email us for additional information on Devil.

Molly was found living in a junkyard by herself. She was emaciated and had never been handled as far as we could tell. It took almost the whole day to catch her and bring her here where she would be safe. Volunteers and staff have worked with this terrified horse for almost a year and now she is the sweetest horse you could ever meet. She is still very shy with strangers and will tremble with fear but will allow herself to be touched and handled and has never been dangerous or aggressive. She desperately wants to be with people and when she begins to trust you she will follow you around like a puppy begging for attention. She may be ridable, we have never tried, but she is healthy and sweet and would love a chance at a home with someone that would care for her. Molly does have some dietary restrictions so please contact us for more details if you are interested. Thanks!
